One of the main business leaders in Brazil, Luiza Helena Trajano was responsible for making Magazine Luiza one of the largest retail chains in the world – and today, it is one of the most successful online sales companies in the country.

As CEO of Magazine Luiza for decades (currently, she is President of the Board of Directors), Luiza Helena was one of the pioneers in implementing gender-sensitive actions in the labour market in Brazil – including support for women to advance their careers within the company and encourage the hiring of employees who are victims of violence.

Voted several times as one of the best companies to work for in Brazil, Magazine Luiza has been a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles since 2016. Luiza Helena is active in different Win-Win actions, sharing her knowledge and experience and inspiring other women entrepreneurs and businesswomen from Brazil, and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Companies are very powerful. When we take action (in favour of women’s empowerment), we end up encouraging many other companies to do the same”, says Luiza Helena.

In addition to participating in several Win-Win initiatives, Luiza Helena is also the founder and president of the Women of Brazil group.
